Overview

Live and work in the red rock wonderland of Kanab, Utah, as the on-site Camp Host (or host couple) for Venture Base, a boutique 6-unit hotel designed for adventurers exploring Southern Utah’s iconic national parks. This unique opportunity includes a spot to park your rig for at no cost to you, with access to all amenities - including a hot tub, cooling pool, hammock tree, horseshoe pit, recreation room, and a dog park - in exchange for your support in creating a memorable guest experience. Your primary responsibilities will include daily property walks and upkeep, laundry management, light maintenance, hot tub and pool care, reporting, and guest satisfaction.

We’re looking for an energetic individual or couple who loves warm weather, red rock landscapes, and making guests feel at home. Whether you’re retired, working remotely, or seeking a seasonal lifestyle with limited living expenses, this is a great opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful corners of the US. No certifications are required - just a can do attitude, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality. Training is provided, and all city, state, and federal employment laws are followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Property Maintenance
  • Conduct daily property inspections to ensure interior and exterior cleanliness and report any issues. 
  • Routine monthly pest control.
  • Perform light exterior care tasks as assigned (never more than weeding, mowing, or edging). 
  • Upkeep of common areas
  • Upkeep of the spa and pool
  • Laundry
  • Manage all laundry for the property (washing, drying, folding, and putting away)
  • Inventory Management
  • Track and monitor inventory for linens, cleaning supplies, and other consumables, notifying Conmigo if anything is needed.
  • Emergency Assistance
  • Respond to guest emergencies, as directed by Conmigo Vacation Rentals. (This would be case by case, subject to your availability)
  • Examples of a guest emergency:  Plumbing issues, guest lockout, cleanliness complaints.
  • Collaboration with Conmigo (vendor management)
  • Schedule and coordinate outside vendors with the support of the Conmigo Vacation Rentals organization.
  • Marketing Efforts (as needed/limited)
  • Create/gather batch content for Conmigo Vacation Rentals marketing team
  • Example of batch content: photos/videos of the property, photos/videos of the community and area, collaborations with Conmigo marketing team.
  • Utilize local social media groups to promote the property.

Compensation

  • Housing
  • The Camp Host shall reside in their own mobile unit. This may be a fifth wheel, and RV, or a camper van (or anything similar). Hook ups and a parking spot for this will be provided by Venture Base at no cost to the Camp Host.
  • Utilities and Wi-Fi are included.
  • Camp Host Stipend
  • The Camp Host will receive a $500 per month stipend for the above responsibilities outlined under “Key Responsibilities.”
  • The Camp Host will be additionally compensated at the standard vendor rate for any housekeeping they conduct at Venture Base, or at any other property managed by Conmigo Vacation Rentals.
  • The Camp Host will be additionally compensated at the standard vendor rate for any maintenance issues that go above and beyond standard maintenance as outlined in the Key Responsibilities. 
  • Additional Opportunities (paid in addition)
    Compensation for these opportunities go beyond the stipend, and will be arranged directly with Conmigo Vacation Rentals. Payment amounts will reflect standard vendor rates, and the Camp Host will work as a vendor for these opportunities. As such, the Camp Host will be expected to maintain the same standards as all other vendors.
  • Any cleaning opportunities that arise from the vacation rentals at Venture Base will first be offered to the Camp Host before being extended to third-party vendors.
  • Any maintenance opportunities which exceed traditional maintenance as outlined above that arise from the vacation rentals at Venture Base will first be offered to the Camp Host before being extended to third-party vendors.
  • Conmigo Vacation Rentals (“CVR”), management entity for Venture Base, also oversees maintenance and housekeeping for other properties in Kanab, Utah. CVR grants the Camp Host first pick for any cleaning or maintenance needs at these properties before engaging third-party vendors.

Task schedule

  • Daily Tasks
  • Pre-reservation property inspections
  • Daily property inspection
  • Laundry upkeep
  • Property inspections (as needed)
  • Pool and spa chemical testing and upkeep
  • Weekly Tasks
  • Inventory tracking and reporting
  • Basic yard care (no more than mowing, edging, or blowing)
  • Cleaning and organizing all common areas of the property. (Recreation Room, Laundry Room, Patio, Common Backyard, Dog Park).
  • Monthly Tasks
  • Dog park deep cleaning.
  • Pool and spa deep clean, as needed.
  • As Needed
  • Assist with guest emergencies.
  • Gathering Social media content
  • Additional Tasks for further compensation:
  • Cleaning the vacation rental units
  • Maintenance that goes above and beyond
  • Cleaning and maintenance of any other homes in Kanab that Conmigo Vacation Rentals manages. 

Ideal Candidate

  • Is proactive, self-motivated, and takes pride in their work.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Thrives in independent roles but can collaborate effectively when needed.
  • Excels at time management and balancing multiple responsibilities.
  • Is flexible and adaptable to changing needs
  • Is physically capable of standing for 8 hours and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Lives on-site and is ready to assist with property needs as they arise.
  • Enjoys creating clean, welcoming, and well-maintained spaces for guests.
  • Is open to learning, with basic training provided and tracked via Breezeway (work order app).
  • Brings a positive, team-oriented mindset to every task.
  • Experience in hospitality is preferred but not mandatory.

Policies

  • Availability
  • The caretaker must commit to the agreed-upon timeframe of a 6-month contract, which is renewable upon mutual agreement. 
  • Any planned absences must be coordinated with Conmigo Vacation Rentals.
  • Performance
  • Failure to fulfill duties may result in deductions from the monthly stipend benefit.
  • Performance will be reviewed by the Conmigo team on a monthly basis
  • Pets
  • Pet friendly

Termination Clause

No early termination is allowed for the Caretaker unless it is documented and signed by both parties. Any early termination by Conmigo Vacation Rentals is as follows:

  1. Immediate termination for gross negligence, theft, or willful property damage.
  2. A 14-day notice for termination based on performance issues, with an opportunity to address deficiencies.
  3. Early contract termination by the caretaker requires a 30-day notice and forfeiture of housing benefits at the end of that period.
