What is Venture Base?
Venture Base is a boutique hotel situated in the heart of all Southern Utah has to offer! Our goal is to guide our guests to discover the allure of this breathtaking region. Using our unique hotel and amenities as a basecamp, guests can visit some of America's most renowned national parks, including Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Staircase-Escalante. This intimate hotel boasts six distinct units designed to provide guests with a unique and personalized experience. Shared amenities bring adventure home with a hot tub, cooling pool, horseshoe pit, hammock haven, hacienda style patio, pergola sitting area, enclosed recreation room, cruiser bikes, and a dog park. Each of our thoughtfully curated units combine rustic-chic decor with modern amenities, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. After a day of outdoor pursuits, return to the comfort of Venture Base to relax and rejuvenate. Venture Base is owned and operated by Utah-based business, Conmigo Vacation Rentals. Conmigo has 80+ homes and boutique hotels across Utah, Idaho, and Alaska.
Hiring Cycles
This position is hired in four month cycles. Every four months we rotate this position or extend the present caretaker into the next cycle. Our cycles are as follows:
- Spring - January, February, March, April
- Summer - May, June, July, August
- Winter - September, October, November, December

Overview of the Position
A position for an energetic individual or couple that loves red rock, warm weather, and creating memory making opportunities for the guests at Venture Base Boutique Hotel in Kanab, Utah. Live and work in the red rock wonderland of Kanab, Utah, as the on-site caretaker (or host couple) for Venture Base, a boutique 6-unit hotel designed for adventurers exploring Southern Utah’s iconic national parks.
This unique opportunity includes on-site housing (with utilities and Wi-Fi included) in exchange for your support in maintaining the property and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. Enjoy access to all amenities—including a hot tub, cooling pool, hammock haven, horseshoe pit, recreation room, cruiser bikes, and a dog park—while helping create unforgettable stays for travelers.
You’ll also earn $17/hour for any hours worked beyond the housing trade and receive discounts for visiting friends and family. No certifications are required—just a can-do attitude, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality. Training is provided, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, whether you're retired, working remotely, or seeking a seasonal lifestyle in one of the most stunning corners of the Southwest.
Ideal Candidate(s)
We’re looking for someone who:

✔ Is physically able to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 25 lbs
✔ Enjoys creating clean, welcoming spaces for guests

✔ While no certifications are required—prior hospitality experience is an absolute plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection of the property, common areas, and water levels.
- Inspection of units after turnover cleans.
- Exterior maintenance including lawn care, weeding, and clean up.
- Laundering of linens, weekly.
- Coordination with Conmigo admins.
- Tracking inventory of back stock and replenishing vending machines.
- Completing monthly cleaning inspections.
Your Role & Responsibilities
As the Venture Base Caretaker, you’ll play a key role in keeping the property running smoothly. Responsibilities include:
Daily Tasks
- Pre-reservation property inspections
- Laundry and room turnovers (cleaning hours: 10 AM–4 PM)
- General property walkthroughs
- Pool and spa chemical testing and upkeep
Weekly Tasks
- Inventory tracking and reporting
- Yard care or light maintenance (if needed)
- Cleaning and organizing common areas (recreation room, laundry room, patio, backyard, dog park)
Monthly Tasks
- Dog park deep clean
- Pool and spa deep clean (as needed)
As Needed
Assist with guest emergencies (e.g., plumbing issues, lockouts, cleanliness concerns)
Additional cleaning or maintenance during peak periods (holidays, local events).
Key responsibilities:
Property Maintenance
- Conduct daily property inspections to ensure interior and exterior cleanliness and report any issues.
- Routine monthly pest control
- Perform light exterior care tasks as assigned.
- Upkeep of common areas
- Upkeep of the spa and pool
Laundry and Cleaning
- Manage all laundry for the property
- Handle the majority of guest room cleanings to minimize turnover costs.
Inventory Management
- Track and monitor inventory for linens, cleaning supplies, and other consumables weekly.
- Notify Conmigo Vacation Rentals of restocking needs and source items as necessary.
Emergency Assistance
- Respond to guest emergencies, as directed by Conmigo Vacation Rentals. (this would be case by case, subject to your availability)
- Examples of a guest emergency: Plumbing issues, guest lockout, cleanliness complaints.
Collaboration with Conmigo (vendor management)
- Schedule and coordinate outside vendors with Conmigo Vacation Rentals.
Marketing Efforts
- Create/gather batch content for Conmigo Vacation Rentals marketing team
- Example of batch content: photos/videos of the property, photos/videos of the community and area, collaborations with Conmigo marketing team.
- Utilize local social media groups to promote the property.

- Additional Opportunities
- Conmigo Vacation Rentals (“CVR”), as the management entity for Venture Base, a boutique hotel, also oversees the maintenance and housekeeping of multiple other properties within Kanab, Utah. CVR agrees to extend the right of first refusal to the caretaker for any ancillary cleaning or maintenance services required at properties other than Venture Base. Such opportunities shall be offered to the caretaker prior to engagement of third-party vendors.
Requirements:
- Must commit to a 4 month long term
- Exceptional customer service skills, communication skills, and personable.
- Experience in hotel management or hospitality is preferred, but not necessary.
- Background in handy work and small maintenance is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Compensation:
Housing
- The Caretaker shall reside in one of two designated on-site units, subject to availability and mutual agreement. The first unit consists of one (1) bedroom, one (1) bathroom, a kitchenette, and is provided unfurnished. The second unit consists of two (2) bedrooms, one (1) bathroom, a full kitchen, and is provided furnished. Assignment to either unit shall be determined based on availability and the caretaker’s preference, where feasible.
- Utilities and Wi-Fi are included.
- For the 1 bed 1 bath unit, the caretaker agrees to work 14 hours per week, in exchange for free rent and utilities (including wifi).
- For the 2 bed 1 bath unit, the caretaker agrees to work 24 hours per week, in exchange for free rent and utilities (including wifi).
Hourly Pay
$17 per hour for hours worked beyond the agreed rent swap arrangement.
Rent Value
For the 1 bed 1 bath unit, the housing provided is valued (with utilities include) at $1,000 per month
For the 2 bed 1 bath unit,the housing provided is valued (with utilities include) at $1,700 per month
Policies:
Availability
- The caretaker must commit to the agreed timeframe of a 6 month contract, which is renewable upon mutual agreement.
- Any planned absences must be coordinated with Conmigo Vacation Rentals.
Performance
Failure to fulfill duties may result in deductions from the housing benefit, compensated through additional hours or direct payment.
Performance will be reviewed by the Conmigo team on a monthly basis

Termination Clause:
No early termination is allowed for the Caretaker. Any early termination by Conmigo Vacation Rentals is as follows:
- Immediate termination for gross negligence, theft, or willful property damage.
- A 14-day notice for termination based on performance issues, with an opportunity to address deficiencies.
- Early contract termination by the caretaker requires a 30-day notice and forfeiture of housing benefits at the end of that period.
Housing Agreement:
A separate lease agreement shall be signed outlining the terms and conditions of the housing accommodations.
NOTE TO FAMILIES: Children are welcome and we would love to host them as well! However, more rental credit will not be offered but the host family may opt to stay in one of the two bedroom apartments (click HERE to view) that is traditionally rented to guests. The host family would still receive the $1200 rental credit but must pay the difference of the monthly rental rate for the larger apartment. (This varies per season, but is typically $400-$550 per month.)
