Caretaker Position
What is Venture Base?
Venture Base is a boutique hotel situated in the heart of all Southern Utah has to offer! Our goal is to guide our guests to discover the allure of this breathtaking region. Using our unique hotel and amenities as a basecamp, guests can visit some of America's most renowned national parks, including Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Staircase-Escalante. This intimate hotel boasts six distinct units designed to provide guests with a unique and personalized experience. Shared amenities bring adventure home with a hot tub, cooling pool, horseshoe pit, hammock haven, hacienda style patio, pergola sitting area, enclosed recreation room, cruiser bikes, and a dog park. Each of our thoughtfully curated units combine rustic-chic decor with modern amenities, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. After a day of outdoor pursuits, return to the comfort of Venture Base to relax and rejuvenate. Venture Base is owned and operated by Utah-based business, Conmigo Vacation Rentals. Conmigo has 80+ homes and boutique hotels across Utah, Idaho, and Alaska.
Hiring Cycles
This position is hired in four month cycles. Every four months we rotate this position or extend the present caretaker into the next cycle. Our cycles are as follows:
- Spring - January, February, March, April
- Summer - May, June, July, August
- Winter - September, October, November, December

Caretaker or Host Couple Position
This is an on-site only position for an energetic individual or couple that loves red rock, warm weather, and creating memory making opportunities for the guests at Venture Base Boutique Hotel in Kanab, Utah. While cleaning and handyman skills are preferable, Venture Base already has a network of skilled technicians, cleaners, and team members that will facilitate much of the labor and maintenance. This position is designed to amplify the guest experience through daily checks, made easy by living at the property. The caretaker will be allowed to use all amenities and enjoy discounts for their friends and family that come to visit.
Ideal Candidate(s)
This position would be perfect for an individual or couple looking to live in Southern Utah for a season, for free, in exchange for basic labors. If the individual had a remote work, a spouse/partner with full time employment, or is retired, this position would allow for limited living expenses. This is an iteration on a "workamper" opportunity. While we would like to offer full-time employment to those that apply, we are still building the offerings and amenities at Venture Base. Individuals that are creative with an entrepreneurial mindset would be a good fit. All are welcome to apply as we follow all city, state, and federal hiring laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection of the property, common areas, and water levels.
- Inspection of units after turnover cleans.
- Exterior maintenance including lawn care, weeding, and clean up.
- Laundering of linens, weekly.
- Coordination with Conmigo admins.
- Tracking inventory of back stock and replenishing vending machines.
- Completing monthly cleaning inspections.
Task Schedule:
Daily Tasks:
- Cleaning and organizing all common areas of the property. (Recreation Room, Laundry Room, Patio, Common Backyard, Dog Park).
- Cleaning inspection and guest arrival preparation.
- Pool and spa chemical testing and upkeep.
Weekly Tasks:
- Wash and fold laundry for cleaners, as needed.
- Remove and dispose of trash, including common area bins.
- Pool and spa maintenance.
- Operations check-in with the Conmigo admins.
Bi-Monthly Tasks:
- Lawn care, weeding, and exterior maintenance.
Monthly Tasks:
- Inventory of soft goods and reordering of necessary items. (Toilet Paper, Soaps, Paper Towels, etc.)
- Pool and spa deep clean, as needed.
- Dog park deep clean.
Additional Services & Commission Share:
- Concierge style services such as event planning, weddings, tour scheduling, and fridge stocking. These services are above and beyond the traditional offerings and are eligible for commission share.
- Occasional unit turnover clean coverage, when regular cleaners fall through, to be paid at the same rate as the contracted cleaners.
Requirements:
- Must commit to a 4 month long term
- Exceptional customer service skills, communication skills, and personable.
- Experience in hotel management or hospitality is preferred, but not necessary.
- Background in handy work and small maintenance is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Compensation:
Conmigo Vacation Rentals is hiring this position as a 1099/contractor, performing these duties in exchange for housing on-site ($1200 value). The contractor would sign a lease agreement for the unit, as a tenant of the home. If work were to be terminated with Conmigo Vacation Rentals, the contractor would still fulfill the lease agreement without the rent credit. Based on an hourly rate of $20 per hour, this position is loosely 60 hours monthly, or 15 hours weekly.
Accommodations:
The property does have a 1 bedroom basement apartment that is fully furnished, can be unfurnished if requested, that is offered to the on-site caretaker or host couple.
NOTE TO FAMILIES: Children are welcome and we would love to host them as well! However, more rental credit will not be offered but the host family may opt to stay in one of the two bedroom apartments (click HERE to view) that is traditionally rented to guests. The host family would still receive the $1200 rental credit but must pay the difference of the monthly rental rate for the larger apartment. (This varies per season, but is typically $400-$550 per month.)
