Our Favorite Spots
Though there are many more things to experience, here are a few of our favorites.
Sand Caves
If you are coming from the North, you will drive right by some sand caves that are visible from the main road coming into Kanab. It is a steep hike up some rocks, but small kids can do it with supervision. It only takes about 30 minutes round trip depending on how long you stay in the caves.
Peekaboo Slot Canyon
Drive 15 minutes from Venture Base to the trail head for Peekaboo Slot Canyon. You will need to drive about 9 miles on sand to get to the canyon, so we recommend renting the right type of vehicle or touring there with All Ways Adventure.
Nautilus Hike
We use the term "hike" reluctantly, as you can drive right up to this magnificent geographic feature or you can hike from distance. The decision is yours! You can google it's location, but it is off road for a mile or so. Any normal vehicle can drive there.
Zion National Park
From Venture Base, a 36 minute drive will take you through Zion National Park to the entrance where the shuttles are located. However, what most people don't know is the drive from the east side through the park is worth the trip in itself. You will go through a tunnel that was carved through a mountain, and see unbelievable sights! You can stop at any point on the road to adventure. This drive, plus all of the other world famous hikes Zion has to offer, is capable of taking up your entire trip!
Bryce Canyon National Park
If you're traveling north toward Salt Lake City from Venture Base, you will drive right by Bryce Canyon National Park. It is approximately 1 hour and 22 minutes from our location. If your goal is to hit as many parks and sites as possible then Venture Base is perfect for you as we are in the middle of it all!
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
Bring your sand toys, dune buggies, and sand boards and experience an amazing time! You can even book a repelling tour at the dunes with All Ways Adventure!
Toadstool Hoodoos
For a unique adventure of any ability, enjoy the Toadstool Hoodoos! These are located in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument which is a 42 minute drive from Venture Base!
The Wave
The world famous hike "the Wave" requires a permit to hike. The lottery is held right next door to Venture Base! This hike is not for the beginner, and requires quite a bit of hiking.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is the largest sanctuary of its kind in the U.S. It has become the heart of a collaborative no-kill movement, and a model for the future of animal welfare. We do not charge pet fees for those of you visiting and adopting animals!
Lake Powell
One hour and 14 minutes from Venture Base lies Lake Powell, which is home to many adventurers. With countless things to do there, it will keep you busy your whole trip!
Antelope Canyon
Near Lake Powell there are amazing hikes, one of which is Antelope Canyon. This hike in particular, you are only allowed to go if you have a native tour guide. However, there are plenty you can see without a guide, and you will not be disappointed!
